SBI told to release PF money
New Delhi: Offering relief to a retired woman, the Delhi Consumer Commission has directed the State Bank of India to release Rs.5 lakh of her provident fund deposited with it.
Dismissing SBI’s appeal against a district forum order, the Commission held that the amount contributed by an employee towards his/her provident fund cannot be withheld by any authority without legal sanction.
In an interim relief order, the forum had in August asked the Bank to release Rs five lakh of the total Rs eight lakh contributed by Surinder Jain, a resident of Saraswati Vihar here, towards her provident fund.
