BANGALORE: Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Commissioner S. Subramanya on Wednesday reviewed the preparations for administering pulse polio drops on national immunisation days in the second week of January and February. At the meeting, Mr. Subramanya asked the zonal joint commissioners and chief health officer to take steps to implement the immunisation process in right earnest. He asked the officials to ensure that every eligible child was covered under the process. Among the steps suggested by Mr. Subramanya include making booths accessible to people, one polio booth for every 125 households and having booths at bus stops, railway station and market. According to a press release, the BBMP has made arrangements to administer polio drops to about seven lakh children in 100 wards. There will be 2,023 vaccination booths, 400 transit teams and 360 mobile teams. Last year, the BBMP had covered 99.6 per cent of children in the January round and 100 per cent in the February round, the release said. RoadworksMr. Subramanya also reviewed the road widening works taken up in 85 areas of the city. On the progress made near High Grounds Police Station, Mr. Subramnaya asked his officers to write to public utility agencies to quicken the process of shifting the utility lines, which has delayed the work. He also asked the officials to take steps to shift utility lines and also to ensure the smooth flow of traffic on Bellary Road.
