Paradise for nature lovers

Perumbavoor and its adjoining areas will benefit from the tourism circuit scheme being implemented by the Ernakulam District Tourism Promotion Council. Many scenic spots are expected to get a facelift soon. The town and its surrounding villages, traditionally known for the arts, commerce and industrial activities, will get a facelift from the tourism activity.

Panieli Poru is one of such exotic location. The Periyar can be seen in its vibrant mode over a rocky plain here. But, infrastructure facilities for tourists are lacking. The authorities are planning to construct cottages and other amenities.

The plan for tourism promotion includes boating to various locations from Vallam where there is a rest house. There are various spots in the circuit that can be reached by road. These include the Kallil cave temple and Iringol forest.

The cave temple on Methala hills is believed to have been an abode of Jains. The cave structure and the nearby pond remain tourist attractions. The Iringol forest, lying close to the town, is spread over 50 acres and has a temple. Nagancherry mana, lying close to the forest, had been the site for a cultural village project.
