VIZIANAGARAM: Municipal Chairperson M. Geetha has said a proposal to supply water round-the-clock in VUDA phase-I, II and IV layout is ready and it would be implemented shortly after fixing water meters in houses. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Mrs. Geetha claimed that in the last two years a sum of Rs. 21.63 crores received under APUSP, and other grants from government was spent on various developmental activities in the town. Stating that works under DFID programme were in progress, she said requisition for an additional sum of Rs. 2.15 crores would be sent after submission of utilisation certificate. She said Rs. 15 lakhs was earmarked for numbering houses and streets in all the 38 wards The chairperson said pending taxes to the tune of Rs. 40 lakhs from various government departments would be realised by February end. She would henceforth concentrate more on how to improve revenue earnings and make the municipality self-sufficient.
