The circus is back

WOW!: A gymnastic act at Jumbo Circus in Bangalore on Wednesday.

BANGALORE: After six years, Jumbo Circus is back in the city to entertain people during the year end. The show is on at the Palace Grounds, opposite TV Tower, since December 15.

According to its promoter, A.K. Premanath, the main attraction is a performance by a 10-member team from Russia that comprises members of three families.

The team, led by Bahadir, comprises Natasha, Humbum, Zulfia, her two sisters, Rasina and Zarina, Alimardon and Ubayabullah.

While Zarina is a specialist in foot juggling, Humbum, Zulfia, Alimardon and Ubayabullah will perform breathtaking stunts on horse-back. The performances by the Russian team include lasso by Natasha and hula-hoop by Razina.

The other highlights are the Globe of Death by three men and women involving stunts on motorcycles horizontally and vertically.

Old favourites

And, of course, there are the old favourites such as the “Three Sword Act”, “Ladder Balance”, “American Ring of Death”, “Ring Balance” and “Fire Dance”.

And what is a circus without its flying trapeze, vertical swinging, clown chair act, elephant cricket, dental dance and spring net?

Animals

Mr. Premnath said seven elephants, hippopotamus, horses, camels and South American parrots have been brought for the shows.

“All the animals have been trained and have been brought here with permission,” he said.

The circus will have shows at 1 p.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are priced between Rs. 40 and Rs. 200.
