Ace cyclist cremated

IMPHAL: Champion cyclist Huidrom Tombisana, 19, who died at a hospital in Namakkal, Tamil Nadu, on Tuesday was cremated in her home village Langmeidong on Thursday. Her body was brought by air to Imphal on Wednesday.

A dog pounced on her while she was practising and she fell from her bicycle and sustained head injuries. She was rushed to a hospital where she later died.

Prominent people, including sportspersons and government officials, paid their last respects to the cyclist who had won laurels from India and abroad.

She had gone to Tamil Nadu to participate in the 13th National Road Cycling Championship.
