DUBAI: The family of Ms. Bhutto left Dubai for Pakistan. Asif Zardari, husband and the children flew first to Karachi from where they will head for Rawalpindi. Shahid Masood, Group Executive Director of Pakistani satellite channel Geo TV, told The Hindu that he was told by Mr. Zardari on Wednesday night that the family was planning a New Year reunion in Lahore. He added that Ms. Bhutto was killed close to the place where her late father Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was hanged in 1979. Soon after becoming Prime Minister she (Ms. Bhutto) demolished the jail in Rawalpindi where her father was hanged and built a park in its place. It was in this park that she addressed her last rally, he said. Dr. Masood added that Ms. Bhutto became a victim of her own courage as she was unable to fathom the depth of the social and political turbulence that prevails in Pakistan. Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where Ms. Bhutto had resided for several years, strongly condemned her assassination. UAE Foreign Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed al Nahyan urged the people of Pakistan to unify their ranks to fight terrorism.
