GOT HIM! Chaitanya Nanda got the wicket of H. Gopinath, whose partnership with Ramkumar yielded 82 for the seventh wicket. Chennai: Leg-spinner Chaitanya Nanda and ebullient ’keeper Punit Bist have virtually ensured Delhi a semifinal berth in the Ranji Trophy. Nanda’s five for 47 ended Tamil Nadu’s second innings at 174 in the Group ‘A’ Super League match at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium. Delhi, which gained a first innings lead of 70, was set a target of 105. The visitor was ten without loss at stumps on day three. The tall Nanda explored the angles and varied his pace cleverly after the pacemen had made the early inroads. This said, the Tamil Nadu batsmen once again lost the plot. The top and middle-order crumbled with only Abhinav Mukund putting up a semblance of fight. The host was reeling at 61 for six when a free-stroking R. Ramkumar (57, 46b, 8x4) and wicket-keeper batsman K.H. Gopinath (37) added 82 for the seventh wicket in 112 balls. Nanda prised out Ramkumar and the host innings ended soon. Gautam Gambhir once again led smartly. He introduced the canny Rajat Bhatia to dismiss in-form opener M. Vijay and utlised Parvinder Awana’s sharp pace judiciously. Earlier, Delhi gained the lead and stretched it to 70 with useful contributions from Sangwan (31) and Narendra Singh (34). Off-spinner S. Suresh Kumar picked up three of the four Delhi wickets to fall. The scores: Tamil Nadu — Ist innings: 268 Delhi — Ist innings: A. Chopra c Das b C. Suresh 55, G. Gambhir c Mukund b C. Suresh 84, S.
