Rise in outlay for farm sector
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD: Agriculture Minister N. Raghuveera Reddy on Thursday said that in the coming budget, the State government would earmark Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 35,000 crore for the farm sector, up from about Rs. 22,000 crore in the last fiscal.
Addressing a conference at the Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture (CRIDA) here, he said the increasing population made it imperative for farmers to adopt the latest techniques to improve agricultural productivity. It was here that extension work assumed importance as training inputs needed to be reached out to every small and marginal farmer, he said, adding that the government’s programmes aimed to do just that.
