Employment programme next year

ARIYALUR: The National Employment Guarantee Programme will be implemented in Ariyalur district during the next financial year, Collector V. M. Xavier Chrisso Nayagam said.

Mr. Nayagam said that under the programme, men and women below the poverty line in the district would each get work for a minimum of 100 days with a daily wage of Rs. 80. The district has been sanctioned Rs.64 lakh towards provision of basic infrastructure and other facilities, the Collector said. A sum of Rs.10 lakh had already been released.
