Security strengthened

TIRUPUR: More than 1,500 police personnel have been deployed in Tirupur in view of Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi’s visit to the city for the inauguration of Tirupur Municipal Corporation on Saturday.
Special police teams have launched a check at all the lodges. Vehicular checks too have been strengthened.
According to K. Rajendran, Inspector General of Police, West Zone, two Deputy Inspectors General of Police, six Superintendents of Police, 21 Deputy Superintendents of Police, 51 Inspectors and 128 sub-Inspectors have been deployed in Tirupur besides 440 policemen from Armed Reserve Battalions.
Additional Director General of Police K. Vijayakumar visited the venue on Wednesday to review arrangements.
