Lorry driver, cleaner killed in accident

AMBUR: A lorry driver and a cleaner were killed when the vehicle rammed against a parked lorry at Govindapuram near Ambur in the wee hours of Thursday.

60 tonnes of granite

The police said that the lorry was carrying 60 tonnes of granite from Bangalore. When it reached Govindapuram, the driver lost control and rammed into the stationary truck, which on its way to Udumalapet from Chennai, carrying cotton. The driver of the granite-laden lorry, Chitta Gowda (39), and the cleaner, Krishnan (25), died on the spot. The police have registered a case.
