Shooting
JAIPUR: Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore silenced his critics with a gold medal in the men’s double trap event in the 51st National shooting championship at the Oases Ranges here on Thursday. Rathore shot a series of 48, 47 and 46 for an aggregate of 141 out of 150. In the final, he missed five ‘birds’ on his second shots while picking up all 25 on the first, enough for the gold. Rathore’s tally of 45 saw him finish at 186, while the silver medal went to Delhi’s Vikram Bhatnagar (178). Junior shooter Mohammed Asab impressed with splendid shooting in the final as he scored one better than Rathore, to leapfrog on the podium from the fifth position. Asab had a tally of 129 after qualification rounds of 43, 43 and 43, but a 46 in the final saw him enter the medals bracket. The results: Double trap: Men: 1.
