MLA calls for awareness on malaria
Staff Reporter
ADILABAD: Boath MLA Soyam Bapu Rao on Friday urged the Government to spread awareness about malaria fevers rather than about AIDS in the agency areas in Adilabad district. He said such awareness was required currently because several tribals were losing their lives in these parts.
Addressing a gathering at Arkapalli village in Gudihatnoor mandal in connection with the special winter camp of the NSS students from Government Junior college, Gudihatnoor, the MLA said awareness about AIDS was not required as much as malaria in the tribal belt in Adilabad.
“There is lesser likelihood of tribals contracting AIDS but chances are more of malaria attacking them. Hence the need of the hour is awareness on malaria”, he opined.
Special camp
During the 10-day special camp, the NSS students laid a gravel road and dug out a drainage in the village. They received alround praise for their work. NSS coordinator Mohan Babu and others attended.
