Grief all around: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy paying condolences to P. Janardhan Reddy in Hyderabad on Friday. HYDERABAD: President Pratibha Patil and leaders from across the political spectrum condoled the death of Congress MLA from Khairatabad P. Janardhan Reddy here on Friday. In a message forwarded by the Rastrapathi Nilayam from Port Blair, where the President is camping, Mrs. Patil, said the Congress leader would be remembered for espousing the cause of labour welfare. UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi also expressed her condolences over the death of the Congress leader. Governor N.D. Tiwari said he was ‘shocked’ at the sudden demise of a powerful leader dedicated to the poor and a veteran trade unionist and conveyed condolences to the bereaved family. Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, who rushed to KIMS hospital on learning about PJR’s demise, expressed shock at the death of the party leader. The Chief Minister said PJR would be cremated with police honours. Speaker K.R. Suresh Reddy said PJR was a people’s man who had always taken initiatives for the well-being of voters in Khairatabad Assembly segment, which he represented five terms. TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu said PJR’s untimely death was an irreparable loss to the trade union movement and State political scene and extended his deep condolences to the leader’s family members. Union Ministers S. Jaipal Reddy Panabaka Lakshmi, T. Subbarami Reddy and Dasari Narayana Rao, TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao, and leaders of TDP, CPI (M), CPI and BJP also condoled PJR’s death.
