Award-winning Kannada films to be exhibited 12 delegates from abroad to participate in the event BANGALORE: Screening of 125 select films from 45 countries, an exclusive Indian Panorama section and some of the country’s landmark documentaries of Satyajit Ray, Anand Patawardhan and Madhushree Dutta will mark the second 11-day Bengalooru International Film Festival. Festival director and filmmaker Girish Kasaravalli told presspersons here on Friday that Governor Rameshwar Thakur would inaugurate the festival on January 3. Filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan would be the chief guest. U.R. Ananthamurthy, Girish Karnad, and M.S. Sathyu, Parvathamma Rajkumar, Harini, R.N. Jayagopal K.S.L. Swamee, K.C.N. Chandrashekhar, Shiv Rajkumar and Ramesh Aravind would participate in the event, he said. There would be an LCD exhibition of national award winning Kannada films and resale of a book on M.R. Vittal. Twelve delegates from abroad and 25 from across the country would participate in the event. The foreign delegates were G. Norelli and Said Shah (U.S.), Stefando and Patrizia Raveggi (Italy) Abu Sayeed and Golam Rabany Biplob (Bangladesh) Dragan M. Fimon (Belgrade) and Ashley Ratnavibhushana and Ashoka Handagama (Sri Lanka), he said. The films would be screened at three halls of Vision Cinemas and K.H. Patil Hall on Kengal Hanumanthiya Road and at Suchitra Auditorium, Banashankari Second Stage, he said. Regular media conferences, interaction sessions and other festival-related activities would be held in a special enclosure at Vision Cinemas, he said. An office had been opened at Vision Cinemas Complex for registration of delegates. The delegate fee had been fixed at Rs. 500. The entry fee for public was Rs. 400, while it was Rs. 300 for those associated with the film industry. Passes for students of cinema, journalism and mass communication courses were being issued at the office, Mr. Kasaravalli said.
