Ghazanfar Ali declared the Man of the Match Jarnail Singh scored for Shers Chandigarh: Chandigarh Dynamos came back strongly with drag-flick specialist Sandeep Singh striking twice and edged past Sher-e-Jalandhar 2-1 in a fiercely-contested match of the fourth Premier Hockey League at the Sector 42 Hockey Stadium here on Friday. Jarnail Singh of Shers dodged past Dynamos defender Sandeep Singh and moved in before sending a power-packed reverse hit into the boards from a narrow angle to beat Dynamos’ custodian Baljit Singh to put his team in the lead. Taking controlHowever, Shers fell back after the lead and started to crowd the defence even as Dynamos took control of the midfield with their Pakistan import Ghazanfar Ali performing admirably as a centre-half. Sandeep sent a waist-high flick off a penalty kick to the left of goalkeeper Salman Akbar to post the equaliser in the 52nd minute. The match-winner for Shers came when Inderjit Chadha injected a push and S.S. Gill set it up perfectly for Sandeep and for once the drag-flick specialist got his moorings right and sent in a powerful flick to the roof of the net. Dynamos’ centre-half Ghazanfar Ali was declared the Man of the Match for his brilliant midfield play.
