JAIPUR: The newly constructed third 110-MW unit of the Dholpur gas thermal power station was synchronised and connected to the State Grid for power production to its full capacity on Thursday night. The unit will produce 25 lakh additional units of electricity every day. The construction of the 330-MW power plant has been completed in a record 26 months after the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation ensured the availability of sufficient gas to be used as fuel. Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje had dedicated the first and second units of 110 MW each – which are fully functional now – on September 1 this year. The Chairman and Managing Director of Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam, N.S. Chaudhary, said here that the heat generated by gas emitted from the first two units was being used as fuel for the third unit, doing away with the need to get any additional fuel. Mr. Chaudhary said the Dholpur project’s cost had been estimated at Rs.1,155 crore and its equipment was supplied and installed by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited. He said the State had set the target of starting five new units of 1070 MW capacity at various power stations by next year.
