Himachal Pradesh
GANDHINAGAR: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has welcomed the Bharatiya Janata Party’s victory in the Himachal Pradesh elections. He said the party’s two consecutive victories proved that the people favoured only development and good governance. Mr. Modi said it was also indicative of the change in the country’s political situation. Only a party which had the capacity to meet people’s aspirations and expectations would be acceptable to the voters. “The BJP’s victory in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh clearly demonstrates that the Congress, which was following an appeasement policy, is not acceptable to people anymore.” It was significant that the Congress lost the Himachal elections on the day of its inception, he said, adding, “This will herald the downslide of the party in the coming days.”
