MUMBAI: The Bombay Stock Exchange sensitive index ended flat on Friday and registered a marginal loss of 9.77 points amid weak global cues following the assassination of former premier of Pakistan Benazir Bhutto. Analysts, however, said the market can still be considered bullish if the healthy 85 per cent market-wide rollover at the end of December series is any indication. The 30-share Sensex recovered its early losses on the back of late buying support but only to end the day flat. During the mid-afternoon trade, buying emerged after the BSE barometer touched a low of 20022.88, brokers said. They attributed the initial slide to weakness in Asian markets, which were affected by fears that the assassination of Pakistani Opposition leader Benazir Bhutto may lead to geopolitical uncertainty. The Sensex later closed the day at 20206.95, a fall of 9.77 points, or 0.05 per cent. On Thursday, it closed at 20216.72. — PTI
