Ramesh strikes Indian Bank’s winner
CHENNAI: Striker Ramesh’s 10th minute goal helped Indian Bank save the blushes and gain three points from its solitary goal victory over RBI in a CFA senior division league match at the Nehru stadium on Friday.
Indian Bank’s discomfiture was more due to the wonderful goalkeeping by RBI’s Ramu who more than once thwarted goal-bound tries. He stopped a Ramesh header first and then grabbed a scorcher from a goalmouth melee.
In between defender Manivannan came up with a brilliant goal line save to deny Ramesh a goal in the 25th minute. Indian Bank’s Felix had one good save to effect when Senthil Rajan made a sharp strike.
Earlier in the first division, FCI and DB Annai Youth played out a goalless draw. — Special correspondent
