Underground railway mooted for city

KOCHI: German architect Klaus-Peter Gast has said that widening of the city roads will offer only a partial solution to the traffic problems faced by Kochi.

He was speaking at a seminar organised by St. Albert’s College on Friday.

Metro Rail could fulfil the need for a fast and safe transportation system to bring in a large number of people to the city, but other transportation systems will be required to deal with the traffic problems within the city, according to him.

He suggested that underground railway be set up within the city.
