‘Chitra Santhe’ to attract 1,300 artists

Over a lakh expected to visit ‘santhe’

Sales estimated to touch Rs. 1 crore


BANGALORE: The annual “Chitra Santhe” here on Sunday will bring together 1,300 artists from all over the State and outside.

According to a press release by general secretary of the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath M.J. Kamalakshi it will be a riot of colours at the parishath premises on that day.

Those who will display their art include K.T. Shiva Prasad, Chandranatha Acharya, B.K.S. Varma, K.N. Ramachandran, V.G. Andani, Vijay Sindhur, M.B. Patil, J.M.S. Mani, Babu Eshwar Prasad, B. Devaraj, S. Gopinath and Sudesh Mahan.

The parishath hopes to get over a lakh visitors, for which adequate arrangements have been made.

The parishath has requested the police to ban vehicular traffic on Kumara Krupa Road on Sunday. A special canteen and information desk are among the facilities offered.

A special historic introduction to visual arts event will be an added attraction this year, says the release. Extensive parking space has been provided for visitors.

Outlining the “culture of the santhe,” the release said it provided an opportunity for the common people and artists to meet and exchange views freely. Artists from Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai and other regional art schools will participate in the santhe.

The total sales at the santhe are estimated to touch Rs.1 crore.

The parishath will not get any commission towards the sale, and the entire money involved the transaction will go to the artist.
