JAIPUR: Policyholders of ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company can now use the vast network of “e-Mitra” service centres in 13 districts of Rajasthan to pay their first as well as renewal premiums in cash. This is the latest addition to the State Government’s e-governance initiative rendering a wide range of public services. ICICI Prudential announced its strategic partnership with the State Government here on Thursday for providing its customers the convenience of utilising 626 service centres spread across 13 districts. The insurer described the institutional tie-up for cash management solution as the first of its kind of endeavours. The benefitsICICI Prudential senior vice-president and head of rural business Rishi Srivastava told reporters here that customers getting the benefit of the new scheme could walk into the listed e-Mitra kiosks, produce their acknowledgement letter and policy number and make their premium payment in cash. Mr. Srivastava said the unique public-private partnership would enable the company to provide to its rural customers the service experience at par with that in the cities. “Through this strategic tie-up, we will be able to reach out to a wider customer base and provide additional value-added services”. Micro-officesThe company has announced a similar tie-up with the Andhra Pradesh Government as well as the Department of Posts in some of the key States. Mr. Srivastava said the micro-offices in villages were rendering services in regional languages in Gujarat, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala. The company – a joint venture between ICICI Bank and Prudential Plc – was one of the first players to begin operations when the insurance industry was thrown open to the private sector in the country in 2000. It has underwritten over 50 lakh policies since its inception and has a network of 735 offices and over 2.43 lakh advisers.
