BANGALORE: The Akhila Karnataka Gadi Horata Samiti, which is a forum of about 200 pro-Kannada organisations in the State, will observe a 12-hour “rail bandh” throughout Karnataka on January 27 to protest against the delay in according the classical language tag to Kannada as well as the alleged ignoring of Karnataka’s interests by the Centre. Announcing this at a programme organised here to remember poet laureate Kuvempu on the occasion of his birth anniversary, Kannada Chaluvali Vatal Paksha leader Vatal Nagaraj, who is also president of the samiti, said no train would be allowed to run on January 27 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Kuvempu museumHe demanded that the State government set up a museum in memory of Kuvempu on a 1,000-acre land anywhere in the State. The proposed museum should have all the books written by Kuvempu, besides depicting his thoughts and vision for Karnataka.
