CHENNAI: Star Health & Allied Insurance has introduced Star Super Surplus insurance policy. According to a release, this policy is primarily for persons between the age group of five months and 65 years and comes with a fixed premium, irrespective of the age of the person. There are two options under this policy. The sum insured under the first option would be Rs. 7 lakh at an annual premium of Rs. 3,000 only. The second option gives customers the advantage of considerable premium saving with a higher insured sum of Rs. 10 lakh at a reasonable annual premium of Rs. 4,000. Both the options are subject to a deductible amount of Rs. 3 lakh. The policy can be utilised when the expenses on treatment per hospitalisation (excluding pre- and post-hospitalisation) exceed Rs. 3 lakh. Expenses up to Rs. 3 lakh will have to be borne by the policyholder or can be recovered from the person’s existing health insurance policy. The policy covers hospitalisation expenses for sickness, illness and accidental injuries, subject to minimum 24-hour hospitalisation. Under this policy, there is no ceiling on ICU, medicine, diagnostic charges or consultation fee. The limit for room rent is up to a maximum of two per cent of the sum insured, subject to a maximum of Rs. 2,500 a day.
