Bangalore: Host Bangalore Institute of Cricket (BIC) won the Chakrapani Cup State level under-15 cricket tournament. In the final here at the GKVK Ground, BIC defeated Bangalore Blues by five wickets. The scores (final): Bangalore Blues 190 in 39 overs (R. Samarth 85) lost to BIC 192 for five in 38 overs (Arun Pandey 50 n.o., Aman Raj 49, Rakshith 48). Hat-trick by PrabhuPrabhu Kumar’s hat-trick was the highlight of Bangalore Mars’ 6-0 victory over Bangalore Independent in the ‘C’ division football championship here on Saturday. The winner led 5-0 at half-time after Prabhu Kumar struck in the 20th, 21st and 26th minutes while Vinod (29th) and Anthony (31st) added the other two. In the second session, Kamalahassan scored in the 77th minute to complete the tally for Bangalore Mars. Vinoop slams tonVinoop’s 137 set the base for St. Joseph’s Boys High School’s (SJBHS) 161-run victory over Sudarshan Vidyamandir in a Boost Cup under-17 inter-school tournament match here on Saturday. Chess tournamentThe South Kanara District Chess Association will conduct an FIDE rated chess championship under the auspices of the United Karnataka Chess Association at Mangalore in January. The tournament carries an overall prize money of Rs. 60,000 and the top four players in the event will represent the State in the National ‘B’ championship.
