Schools turn shelters for them

BERHAMPUR: Schools at communal-violence hit areas in Kandhamal district have been converted into community shelters for the homeless by the administration.

Some 1,000 persons reached one such shelter at the Girls’ High School at Baliguda. Most of them were from Barkhama village, where more than 400 houses were gutted. Forgetting all political differences, leaders of all parties were seen managing the camp and its community kitchen.

One such shelter was also opened at Merikote in Sorada block in Ganjam district for families from Daringbadi block of Kandhamal district.
