Child, mother killed as bus hits motorcycle

Father admitted to GTB Hospital with serious injuries

NEW DELHI: A two-year-old girl and her mother were killed while her father sustained serious injuries as an Uttar Pradesh Roadways bus hit their motorcycle near Welcome station of the Delhi Metro on Saturday. The father is stated to be in a serious condition.

According to the police, the accident took place around 4 p.m. when 37-year-old Chaman Ali, a tailor, his wife Afsheen Rani (35) and daughter Mantasha were on their way home on the motorcycle after seeing a doctor as Mantasha was ill. The Uttar Pradesh Roadways bus hit the motorcycle from behind injuring the three seriously. While Mantasha died on the spot, her parents were rushed to Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital where Afseen succumbed to her injuries late in the evening.

The bus driver vanished from the spot leaving the vehicle behind.

The police have registered a case and seized the vehicle. A hunt has been launched for the driver.
