The month-long signature drive to be flagged off from Yadagirigutta

HYDERABAD : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will launch a month-long signature campaign from Yadagirigutta in Nalgonda district on January 3 demanding separate Telangana before 2009 elections.

A yatra to be flagged off on the occasion by party’s State president Bandaru Dattatreya. It would be led by senior leader N. Indrasena Reddy.

Thereafter, BJP cadre would move into other districts to secure signatures from general public till January 31. The campaign has been titled `Telangana kranthi – santhakala sankranthi’.

Mr. Dattatreya, former Union Minister Ch. Vidyasagar Rao and State general secretary K. They would be carried in a special train by 3,000 party activists from various Telangana districts. A fee of Rs. 1,000 would be collected from each of them.

Besides the demand for separate Telangana by 2009, the campaign would also seek various concessions to the region like supply of river water in all villages, end to land transactions by Government, withdrawal of minorities appeasement policies and official celebration of Telangana Liberation Day.

The campaign would cover 400 mandals in 50 Assembly constituencies, Mr. Dattatreya added.
