Teacher training institute for Perambalur

ARIYALUR: A teacher training institute will be started in Perambalur as part of the State Government’s initiative to achieve overall development of Perambalur and Ariyalur districts, the Union Minister of Information Technology and Communications, A. Raja, said here on Thursday.
Speaking at a function to mark the distribution of free colour television sets at Karaivettiparadur near Tirumanoor, he said that a combined drinking water scheme on an outlay of Rs. 70 crore would be implemented shortly to benefit residents in and around Jayamkondam.
Collector V. M. Xavier Chrisso Nayagam said that the national rural employment guarantee scheme would be implemented in Ariyalur district from April.
MLAs D. Amaramoorthy and S. S. Shivashankar, and District Revenue Officer B. Shankar spoke.
