Russian woman killed in train robbery

LUCKNOW: A Russian woman was killed and another woman passenger injured when armed robbers opened fire aboard the 1073 Up Kamrani Express near Rewa in Madhya Pradesh.

A Home Department spokesman here said that about eight to ten armed robbers boarded the train when it left Debhaura station in Rewa late on Thursday night. They threatened the passengers and began robbing them.

When some passengers resisted, they opened fire, he said.

The Russian woman, K. Linova from Moscow, and another passenger, Leena of Mumbai, suffered injuries and were rushed to the Primary Health Centre in Chitrakoot (Uttar Pradesh) when the train reached there.

Linova succumbed to her injuries there, the spokesman said.

The injured woman from Mumbai was referred to the district hospital in Chitrakoot, he said. - PTI
