Award conferred on academic

NEW DELHI: The Jaya Prakash Foundation on Saturday conferred the Jaya Prakash Foundation Award-2007 on Prof. Ramji Singh for his lifelong contribution to promotion of values of an equitable and just society based on the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi and Jayaprakash Narayan.

Jaya Prakash Memorial Lecture

The award was presented on the occasion of the Jaya Prakash Memorial Lecture-2007 at Jawaharlal Nehru University here. Prof. Singh has a distinguished record of academic, social and political work spanning over more than 50 years. He began as a lecturer of Philosophy at a college in a small town of Bihar.

Later he got associated with the revolution of Jayaprakash Narayan and contributed to the movement in different capacities. He was also elected to the Lok Sabha from Bhagalpur in 1977. He has served as president of the Afro-Asian Association of Philosophy and Vice-Chancellor of Bhagalpur varsity.
