Ramakrishna Math conducts health camp
CHENNAI: Sri Ramakrishna Math conducted a health camp for persons with leprosy here on Friday.
The day-long camp included screening for eye ailments by optometrists from Sankara Nethralaya and health check-ups by doctors from Sri Ramachandra Medical College in Porur.
Atul Shah, director of Mumbai-based Novartis Comprehensive Leprosy Care Association, conducted a three-hour session on prevention of deformity.
The Math has also been helping persons with leprosy form Self-Help groups.
On Friday, the fifth SHG was formed and rehabilitation material distributed to 35 persons.
Reaching out
Swami Abhiramananda said the Math wished to extend such activities to other districts in a few years, a press release said.
