BANGALORE: Three persons died in as many road accidents reported from different parts of the city since Friday night. Sangamadevaiah (55), a resident of Kodigehalli, died on the spot when a BMTC bus hit his motorcycle near Anandanagar Cross off Bellary Road on Friday night. The victim, a native of Madhugiri in Tumkur district, was working with a private bank, the police said. Early on Saturday, the driver of a Maruti van, in his attempt to overtake a motorcycle, hit a cyclist, killing the latter on the spot. The incident occurred near BDA Junction on Bellary Road in High Grounds traffic police station limits. The police gave the name of the victim as Anand (40), working as a security guard with Le Meridien Hotel on Sankey Road. Anand was on his way to report to his morning shift at 5 a.m., the police said. An MBA student from Chennai, who was in Bangalore to celebrate the new year, died after a fall from the motorcycle on which he was riding pillion on Friday in Ashoknagar Traffic Police Station limits. According to the police, the victim, Balaji (23), was visiting his friend Parthiban Raj, a software engineer and a resident of J.P. Nagar. The two reportedly consumed alcohol at a bar on Airport Road and were on their way to have food on a motorcycle. MurderedA worker was stabbed to death allegedly by his rivals in Fraser Town Police Station limits on Friday night. The police gave the name of the victim as Prabhakar (20), a resident of BDA Quarters, Cox Town. The police said Prabhakar was stabbed two youths near KHB Colony, Doddakunte. ArrestedThe Sampangiramanagar police have arrested one person on charge of stealing cheques from courier boys and encashing them. The police gave the name of the accused as R. Naveen, who was reportedly dismissed from a nationalised bank and resident of Jayanagar II Block. According to police, the accused used to follow courier boys and steal consignments containing cheques by hoodwinking. He would later encash the cheques.
