dated December 31, 1957: Classics on medicine

Mr. P.V. Rajamannar, Acting Governor of Madras, while inaugurating the Seventh Annual Conference of the Anatomical Society of India, in Madras, on December 29, appealed to the medical men to make a dispassionate study of our ancient books relating to Ayurveda and Yoga, which had abundant material that had led to great advances in treatment of diseases. He expressed the view that the medium of instruction in Medical Science should continue to be English, at least for a long time to come.

Dr. Y. Appajee, in the course of his Presidential Address, stated that the curriculum in Anatomy required re-orientation to suit the changed conditions, and cautioned that there should be no shattering of the present system and remoulding it.
