Tarun Sangha beats City Club

NEW DELHI: Tarun Sangha defeated City Club 3-1 in a Group ‘A’ super-league match of the SAIL-ONGC DSA senior division football league at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Sunday.

Charles opened the account in the 17th minute with a fine strike from the top of the box.

Doubling the lead

Innocent converted a penalty to double the lead for Tarun Sangha after Charles had been brought down.

Srikanta Das completed the tally for Tarun Sangha in the 71st minute with a powerful grounder, after S.K. Shanawaz had pulled one back for City Club early on resumption.

Jatin, Gaurav shine

A four-wicket haul by Jatin Bhaduria and a fine half-century by Gaurav Upadhyay helped Delhi Blues score a six-wicket victory over Rajender Pal Academy in the eighth all-India Shakuntala Dogra memorial cricket tournament at the Chilla Sports Complex, here.

The scores:

Rajender Pal Academy 167 in 39.3 overs (Sudeep Das 43, Jatin Bhaduria four for 19) lost to Delhi Blues 168 for four in 34.1 overs (Gaurav Upadhyay 56).

Rahul scalps four

A four-wicket haul by Rahul Bhardwaj helped Lala Ram Charan Club register a four-wicket victory over United Delhi Academy in the Lala Ram Charan Aggarwal memorial cricket tournament at the Ramjas Sports Complex, here.

The scores:

United Delhi Academy 137 in 35.4 overs (Jasmeet Singh 50, Rahul Bhardwaj four for 15) lost to Lala Ram Charan Club 141 for six in 28.3 overs.

Vimal Soni named manager for ODIs

Vimal Soni has been appointed the Indian cricket team manager for the triangular one-day series in Australia that follows the Test series. He is the vice-president of the Rajasthan Cricket Association.

Soni will take over from Chetan Chauhan who is performing the same role in the Test series.

The tri-nation series, beginning on February 3 next year, features Australia, India and Sri Lanka.
