Raja Ravi Varma paintings to be displayed
Manipal: A museum displaying the works of renowned artist Raja Ravi Varma will be set up at the heritage village of Hasta Shilpa Trust here with the support of the Netherland Embassy in Delhi.
The Trust has secured archival materials belonging to the artist, who enjoyed the patronage of the Maharajas of Baroda and Mysore, its President Mohandas M. Pai told a press conference on Sunday.
Machineries used for printing purposes, litho stones with impressions of the works, packets of special colour ink powder made in Germany, scores of original colour prints and varied sizes of the paintings will be displayed, he said. The Trust had planned to establish the museum during 2006 to mark the death centenary of the artist, but paucity of funds delayed it, Mr. Pai said. — PTI
