TRS not to field candidate in Khairatabad

Special Correspondent

K. Chandrasekhar Rao

HYDERABAD: TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao has said that his party will not field a candidate for Khairatabad Assembly byelection which has been necessitated by the death of P. Janardhan Reddy if the Congress came up with such a proposal.

Plea to other parties

Mr. Rao told reporters after releasing the New Year diary of Telangana Regional Teachers Union that all parties should decide to stay away from the election to pave way for the victory of a member from the family of Janardhan Reddy.

The TRS would not enter the fray if such a decision was taken. He described Janardhan Reddy as a man of the masses. His family deserved to be shown consideration on humanitarian grounds, he said.

He also said the BJP and Congress were reduced to regional parties as they did not have presence in some States. They had lost their national character, he said.
