G. Venkataswamy for smaller States

Staff Reporter

Telangana subjected to gross negligence during the past 60 years

Demise of PJR great loss to the party, says Venkataswamy

TIRUMALA: Senior Congress leader G.Venkataswamy on Sunday said that development could be achieved only through the formation of smaller States.

Talking to mediapersons, Mr Venkataswamy said that he would not like to deal at length regarding the Telangana issue as he was a Congress Working Committee (CWC) member.

Personal opinion

“It is only my personal opinion which I am expressing and it has got nothing to do with the party’s decision,” he said.

However, in reply to a question, he said that the Telangana region, which was subjected to gross negligence during the past 60 years, had doubtlessly witnessed development under the stewardship of Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

Unhappy

The senior party leader also did not forget to express his discontent for his name not being considered for the country’s President’s post despite holding the goodwill of being the senior most parliamentarian.

Venkataswamy said that the sudden demise of Khairatabad legislator, P.Janardhan Reddy, was a great loss to the party.
