Chief Minister for CBSC syllabus from Class VI to XII

YSR addresses ‘ATA Vedukalu’ in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy on Sunday called upon the Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) to invest in rural public schools being set up by the Government with the intention of offering quality education to the masses.

Addressing the ‘ATA Vedukalu’ of the American Telugu Association (ATA) here, he suggested that NRIs could either individually or jointly invest Rs.10-12 crore in running of rural public schools. On its part, the Government is ready to meet 50 per cent of the expenditure by offering scholarships to students, he said.

Management quota

Dr. Reddy said 25 per cent of the seats in the rural public schools financed by NRIs could be under the management quota.

The Government, he pledged, will extend its support to the welfare schemes taken up by NRIs. Hence, they should come forward with more such schemes.

The Chief Minister opined that if the CBSC syllabus is adopted from Class VI to XII, the students will be benefited.

Ministers K. Jana Reddy, R. Damodar Reddy, A. Ramanarayana Reddy, Nayani Narasimha Reddy, MLA, Jnanpeet Awardee C. Narayana Reddy, ATA president Gavva Chandra Reddy, were among those who attended the function.

The first day’s programmes of the ‘ATA Vedukalu’ scheduled for December 29 and to be addressed by Dr. Reddy, besides several Ministers, were cancelled on account of the Government declaring a holiday in connection with the funeral of Khairatabad legislator P. Janardhan Reddy.

Minister for Medical Education G. Aruna Kumari inaugurated a continuing medical education programme (CME) organised to mark the ‘vedukalu’.

Mr. Damodar Reddy attended as the chief guest at a business seminar organised by ATA.

N. Indrasain Reddy, MLC, and former chairman of the AP Industrial Infrastructure Corporation, was among those who attended.
