Staff Reporter

Dropping in: President Pratibha Patil and her husband, Devisingh Shekhawat, at the Salar Jung Musuem in Hyderabad on Sunday.

HYDERABAD: The historic Salar Jung Museum had a VVIP visitor on Sunday when the President Prathibha Patil visited the museum along with her spouse and other family members.

The occasion was quite memorable considering that the last time the President visited the museum was way back in 1968 when the then President Zakir Hussain came and also inaugurated a building block. The museum was decked up today with the Presidential visit after a gap of four decades.

Great interest

The Salar Jung Museum Director, A.K.V.S Reddy, in a press release here, said that the President had shown great interest in galleries of the founders, European paintings, Chinese, Japanese, Rebecca, Jade, Ivory, glass, porcelain and the famous clocks collection.

Making her remarks in the Visitor’s Book, Ms. Patil praised the museum for its collection and said the collection has to be preserved carefully for the future generations.
