Hotels, clubs dish out special programmes to welcome 2008

Fortune Murali Park to host ‘Wild wild west’ bash for revellers

Hotels offer a wide variety of mouth-watering dishes and lucky draws

VIJAYAWADA: With just a few hours left for bidding adieu to 2007, star hotels and restaurants are gearing up to offer a variety of options for party animals to welcome 2008 amidst song and dance and mouth-watering dishes.

Leading the pack is Hotel Fortune Murali Park, which, in association with Videocon, has christened the bash as ‘Wild Wild West’, which will be celebrated in the backdrop of cowboys and Mexican waves.

“The bash will start at 8 p.m. and end past midnight with celebrity singer Rupa from Kolkata, item girl Kaushiki and famous dance troupe Masti Makers unleashing high voltage performances. Vizag-based DJ Ammu will play a wide range of music in tune with the ambience. The event will be anchored by Rajni, the anchor from Gemini Music,” said hotel general manager Mohammad Shoeb on Sunday.

Mr. Shoeb said that the event would be held in crystal ball room, which would accommodate around 250 couples.

“We are charging Rs. 2,990 a couple. Apart from a wide range of dishes and snacks along with main course, we’re also offering many lucky draws,” he revealed.

“Along with 125 food items, both vegetarian and non-vegetarian, we are also offering 56 varieties of sweets,” said chef Sachin.

Special offers

Revellers can hope to win a diamond ring, a gold ring, gift hampers from Raymonds and stay vouchers in star hotels in various cities.

Though the other two start hotels in the city – Hotel D.V. Manor and the Gateway Hotel of the Taj Group – have not scheduled any extravaganza, they have lined up rich menu and special offers for buffet dinner.

Hotel D.V. Manor general manager Rajesh Berry said there would be a grand buffet in coffee shop, in addition to the ongoing food festival in Aromas restaurant.

“We also have a caricaturist, a face painter, a glass crafter, a balloon crafter and a saxophonist to entertain the visitors through the night,” Mr. Berry said.

Gateway Hotel general manager Vishal Jamuar said there would be a huge buffet in coffee shop and Chinese restaurant for Rs.750 a person and Rs.1,000 a person. Special offers would be available in the bar too, with several lucky draws planned for the night.

Lotus Food City on the bank of river Krishna would reverberate with the comedy skits of film artistes along with a fashion show by models from Kolkata.

Live music

A live music performance by Srushti Orchestra would be followed by a crackers show announcing the dawn of the New Year.

Clubs like the Vijayawada Club and the Rotary Club of Vijayawada are also planning a get together of the members amidst fun, frolic, music and masti.
