Former AIADMK MLA injured in gang attack

TIRUNELVELI: Former AIADMK MLA S. Sakthivel Murugan was injured in an attack by a gang on Sunday.

Police sources said the 6-member armed gang attacked Mr. Sakthivel Murugan at Mannarkovil junction while he was returning home from Sivakasi in his car.

Mr. Murugan, who is also secretary of the AIADMK trade union of the Ambasamudram-based private spinning mill, said he was actively enrolling members for his union. “This is an attack orchestrated by members of a rival trade union,” he alleged.
