Ready for international probe: Musharraf
Nirupama Subramanian
ISLAMABAD: President Pervez Musharraf has said he is willing to consider an international investigation into the killing of Benazir Bhutto, Pakistani television channels said on Sunday.
He reportedly made the assurance to British Prime Minister Gordon Brown who spoke to him earlier in the day.
Presidential spokesman Major General (retd.) Rashid Qureishi confirmed to journalists that Mr. Brown called Gen. (retd.) Musharraf and expressed appreciation for his role in the war on the terror.
But he said he was not aware that Gen. Musharraf had given the British leader any assurances about an international investigation.
