Cheating customers

Palayam market is under the clutches of fish and mutton vendors. Fish vendors are blackmailing customers by under weighing high priced varieties of fishes. They boldly declare two prices, one for the correctly weighed and the other for the under weighed. The ruling pricing of seer fish is Rs.220 a kg but customers get only 800 gm. They manipulate the weight of the fish . When questioned by customers, they abuse them. The Legal Metrology’ department officials may not be aware of this malpractice. Another area for urgent attention is mutton stalls. Tender cattle calves are fearlessly sold as mutton. These two malpractices of vendors mar the credibility of the authorities concerned.

Tourist buses needed

The tourists arriving in Thiruvananthapuram are not aware of the tourist spots in the district. They find it costly to hire taxi for a one day visit to the various tourist destinations in the district. The government should arrange daily bus services that will take the tourists to tourist destinations at a reasonable cost. The tourists will be able to enjoy their stay in the city if such an arrangement is made as in other cities such as Mumbai.

Haphazard parking

The unscientific method of vehicle parking in front of the shops between Melepazhavangadi and Ganapathi temple at the East Fort is causing a lot of inconvenience to pedestrians and other vehicles passing by. Absence of parking line here is the main reason for this. After evening, two wheelers and four wheelers create a mess here by parking haphazardly. Traffic police should look into the matter.
