Traffic arrangements in place for New Year’s Eve

Motorists advised to avoid roads that have been cordoned off


No vehicles will be allowed in CP’s Inner, Middle and Outer Circles from 7-30 p.m.

Motorists advised to abstain from drunken driving, to stick to 50 km/hour speed limit


NEW DELHI: In the knowledge of the vehicular excesses that New Year Eve celebrations are wont to spawn, the Delhi traffic police have come up with driving guidelines and a modification of traffic flow around Connaught Place, the central hub on which revellers converge from across the Capital this time of the year.

As part of the special arrangement, no vehicles will be allowed in the Inner, Middle and Outer Circles of Connaught Place from 7-30 p.m. on Monday till conclusion of the celebrations.

Motorists have also been advised to take alternative routes to their destinations and avoid certain roads that have been cordoned off.

Vehicle have been disallowed beyond Mandi House roundabout, Bengali Market roundabout, North foot of Ranjit Singh flyover, Minto Road-Deen Dayal Upadhayaya Marg crossing, Chelmsford Road near Munje Chowk (New Delhi railway station), Ashram Marg crossing, Gole Market roundabout, Gole Dak Khana roundabout, Patel Chowk, Kasturba Gandhi Road-Feroze Shah Road crossing.

Commuters have been advised to use the following roads to facilitate smooth flow of traffic: Sansad Marg, Janpath, Kasturba Gandhi Marg, Barakhamba Road, Minto Road, Panchkuian Road, Bhagat Singh Marg and Baba Kharak Singh Marg.

Additionally, motorists have been strictly advised to abstain from drunken driving and to stick to the 50 km/hour speed limit at all times.

A fine of up to Rs.2,000 or imprisonment can be imposed if anyone is found breaking the rules.
