Saris destroyed in fire accident

SALVAGING: Fire and Services personnel trying to clearing silk material after putting off a fire at a textile godown in Bangalore on Sunday.

BANGALORE: Saris valued at over Rs. 10 lakh was destroyed in a fire that broke out at a godown in Kalasipalyam area on Sunday.

The Fire and Emergency Services personnel said the fire broke out in the godown located in the building of Mahashakti Roadlines on Kalasipalyam 2nd Main Road, and electric short circuit is said to be the reason. The fire destroyed saris meant to be sold at a wholesale price. Three fire engines were pressed into service to douse the fire.

Gutted

In another fire incident, two motorcycles, some mattresses and household utensils kept in a mini lorry were burnt on Siddaiah Road on Sunday. The fire, it is learnt, was triggered by a cigarette butt. Two fire engines doused the fire.
