Farmers ask Government to ensure uninterrupted power supply

We demand: Members of Tamilnadu Vivasayigal Sangam staging a demonstration in front of the Krishnagiri Collectorate on Monday.

Krishnagiri: Members of the Tamil Nadu Vivasayigal Sangam affiliated to the Communist Party of India (M) staged a demonstration in front of the Collectorate here on Monday urging the State Government to provide 2-acre lands to all eligible farmers in the district.

House- site pattas

The members also wanted the Government to expedite the issue of house site pattas to those who were living on Porombok lands for the past 10 years.

Price

They urged the Government to fix the price of paddy at Rs.1,000 a quintal, sugarcane at Rs.1,500 a tonne and copra at Rs.45 per kg.

Power supply

The Government should ensure uninterrupted power supply for agricultural pumpsets and irrigation channels.

The members asked the Government to disburse loans through Primary Agricultural Cooperative Banks and nationalized banks.

Procurement rate

It should also fix the procurement rate of milk at Rs.15 per litre and provide fodder at a subsidized rate.

The Government should issue identity cards to all eligible farmers in the district they added. District Secretary C. Munusamy led the demonstration.
