Subsidy scheme for farmers

50 per cent subsidy for tissue culture laboratories

Subsidy only for project-based proposals


Belgaum: The Department of Horticulture has invited farmers, particularly those with entrepreneurial skills, to take advantage of the scheme carrying 25 per cent subsidy on various components under the National Horticulture Mission.

In a release issued by Deputy Director of the department K.B. Dundi here on Monday, the Government had announced subsidy to encourage farmers and entrepreneurs to take advantage of growing horticulture sector.

The scheme is open to organisations, societies, non-governmental organisations and cooperative societies. However, the subsidy is available to only project-based proposals for establishment of new marketing complexes for vegetables, fruits, flowers, dry grapes and chillies. He said the subsidy was available to establish primary processing unit of cashew, ginger and pepper of up to a maximum of Rs. 6 lakh, primary processing unit for medicinal and aromatic plants up to Rs. 2.50 lakh, packaging house for fruits and flowers up to Rs. 62,500 for one unit, onion storage structure up to Rs. 50,000, cold storage unit up to Rs. 50 lakh, for establishment of wholesale marketing complexes up to a maximum of Rs. 25 crore, for establishment of rural markets up to Rs. 3.75 lakh, functional infrastructures for collection and grading up to Rs. 3.75 lakh. The Government had announced 50 per cent subsidy for rehabilitation of tissue culture laboratories up to a maximum of Rs. 4 lakh, tissue analysis laboratory up to Rs. 10 lakh and bio control laboratory up to Rs. 80 lakh.
